Outback Al is the zookeeper at the Cartown Zoo. He manages everything from animal care to zoo maintenance and upkeep. He originally lived in Australia before moving to Cartown.
History[]
First seen in Putt-Putt Saves the Zoo, Outback Al is hired as the first and only zookeeper of the Cartown Zoo. At first, he is concerned about the state of the zoo; many of the exhibits still need fixing and six baby animals have gone missing. When Putt-Putt first arrives to give him zoo chow before the opening, Outback Al reveals all the big issues he has to Putt-Putt. He is relieved when Putt-Putt agrees to help him find the baby animals. Outback Al then spends the remainder of the time to fix up the place before the zoo opens. After Putt-Putt saves all six baby animals, he reveals the good news to Outback Al who becomes greatly relieved upon hearing the news. At the opening ceremonies, Outback Al awards Putt-Putt with a junior zookeeper award. In a photo in the staff credits, Putt-Putt introduces Outback Al to Smokey the Fire Engine.
In Putt-Putt Travels Through Time, he is seen in the mirror if you click on it in Putt-Putt's garage.
In Putt-Putt Enters the Race, Outback Al is seen taking care of one of nine new baby animals (aardvark, bush baby, emu, fat dormouse, kinkajou, lemur, numbat, sugar glider, and yak) that he intends to add to the zoo. However, he has encountered more trouble: he has forgotten what five of the animals (aardvark, fat dormouse, kinkajou, lemur, and yak) eat and cannot leave his home to find out. Putt-Putt agrees to help and returns with the appropriate food for the animals (grapes for the aardvark, pumpkin seeds for the fat dormouse, honey for the kinkajou, and milk for the lemur, the yak, and Bonzo). In return, Outback Al gives him an old red racing flag that Putt-Putt uses in the Cartown 500/Grand Prix.
In Putt-Putt Joins the Circus, Outback Al can be seen as one of the spectators near the end of the game.
Appearance[]
Outback Al is a red monster truck-styled jeep. He is always seen with his akubra with a yellow feather. He has large, dark gray tires designed for off-road terrain. On his back is a single antenna. His catchphrases such as "jackaroo!" and accent are Australian stereotypes. Musician Ron Crose provides the didgeridoo for his theme song.
Trivia[]
- Outback Al is based off a monster truck-styled Jeep Wrangler.
