Leona Lion is the wife of Leo Lion and the mother of Kenya. It's possible her name is an allusion to the Between the Lions character. Her last name "Leona" comes from the Spanish word for "lioness".

Putt-Putt Saves the Zoo[]

Leo and Leona Lion appear in the area after where Mrs. Giraffe lives but before the area where Baby Jambo is trapped by the "giant scary mouse". They, like all the other parents of the missing baby animals, are sad and depressed due to their daughter being missing. After Putt-Putt saves Kenya, they are shown sleeping happily as they are relieved to be reunited with their daughter.

Leona and her husband are the only parents that Putt-Putt cannot speak to after their child is rescued due to them taking a nap.
