"Any time you need a ride through the mines, the King'll take ya!"
King (formerly Mud as a rusted cart) is a mine cart in the Land of Darkness. He is king of the mines.
Pajama Sam in "No Need To Hide When It's Dark Outside"[]
When Pajama Sam first meets King, he claims his name is Mud, but then tells Sam that's not actually true. He only said that because his wheels are rusted to the mine track, and he is depressed because he can no longer move. He says that in the summer the pigeons come into the mine and get shade. After Sam oils his wheels via some oil from an oil can, King is free to move again. From this moment forward, he allows Sam to ride in him whenever he wants.
During the game, after King is unrusted, he can be seen moving around on areas where the minecart track is. I.e. at the entrance to Darkness' house and just after the waterfall, where the lunchbox can be found underwater.
Pajama Sam 2: Thunder and Lightning Aren't So Frightening[]
King appears in a picture in the World Wide Weather Lobby.
Pajama Sam's Lost & Found[]
King reappears as the second of Sam's five transporters while he goes around trying to locate his missing toys. King is used for Levels 21-40.
Quotes[]
- "Pretty slick!"
- "That's what I like to hear! Hop in!"
- "What are you gonna do with that?"
- "Okay. You be careful with that, yeah?"
- "It's a pickaxe, for minin' gold!"
- "Don't even bother, kid, it's a one-way door!"
- "No, you shouldn't try, kid, there's no way to open it from your side!"
- "It's a one-way door! You're gonna have to open it from the other side!"
- "Hey, Sam, how you can get down this way?"
- "Why be greedy?"
- "Hey! Who wouldn't?"
- "Sure is!"
- "I warned you to be careful!"
- "Since you're famously rich, how about sharing a wealth a little?"
- "Say, let me have this small piece, huh?"
- "That there is a remote mining terminal."
- "Try it out. It's fun!"
- "You're supposed to pick up the nuggets without crashing anything, including yourself."
- "Watch out for the moving rocks and hot lava."
- "Say, that's good!"
- "Now do the back."
- "Now do the back, huh?"
- "Oooh. Oooh, yeah!"
- "Yahoo!"
- "Wheee!"
- "Whoopee!"
- "Yeah!"
- "Banzai!"
- "Say, thanks, kid. Oh, I've been rusted to that spot for years, but now, thanks to you and your can oil, I'm King of the tracks again."
Trivia[]
- King's line about sharing the wealth might be a very vague reference to former Louisiana Senator Huey P. Long, whose nickname was, "the Kingfish,"
- Long had an economic plan developed during the Great Depression called the Share Our Wealth Plan, which involved taxing the rich and redistributing portions of their wealth, exactly as Pajama Sam does upon acquiring two gold nuggets.
