Eddie the Eel is a character who appeared in the first two Freddi Fish games and a cameo character in the third game.
Freddi Fish and the Case of the Missing Kelp Seeds[]
When Freddi and Luther head for the three caves, they run into Eddie who blocks their path, refusing to let them pass. Freddi tries to explain that they are looking for Grandma Grouper's kelp treasure; refusing to take no for an answer, Eddie orders them to leave before he has to eat them. After Freddi feeds him the sandwich she received from Grandma Grouper, he immediately eats it and changes his mind, wishing them luck on finding the kelp treasure. He leaves shortly after.
Eddie appears in all versions of the game, but he is only important to the Three Caves storyline.
Freddi Fish 2: The Case of the Haunted Schoolhouse[]
Eddie appears in all versions of the game, but he is only important in the Life Preserver storyline.
In the Life Preserver storyline, Eddie immediately blocks Freddi and Luther off from the life preserver and tells them they can't get past him since he is in a grumpy mood due to missing lunch. After Freddi and Luther give Eddie a worm doodle (which they cut off of a fishing line using the Safety Scissors), he will get a sugar rush and leave.
In all storylines of the game, Eddie can be shown in a dance sequence when the player clicks on the shell with a musical note on it.
Personality[]
While not evil, Eddie is shown to be very threatening to others when he hasn't eaten anything and he is willing to electrocute and eat other fish if they don't offer him anything to eat. He appears to have a liking to food that is sweet given the food that satisfies his hunger in the first two games.
He somehow knows about Grandma Grouper's famous sandwiches, whose taste he recognizes after he eats it.
Trivia[]
- By editing the hegames.ini or scummvm.ini to mention EddieEatsLuther=1, it is possible to see a secret cut scene when clicking on Luther; Freddi Fish offers him up for Eddie to eat, while the normal animation of the eel supposedly going away, Freddi makes a gesture. It cuts back to Luther asking what Freddi is thinking about, as she responds with "Oh, nothing Luther". It is possible to view this cut scene multiple times by also having BretIsTheOverlord=1 (named after the programmer Bret Barrett) in the configurations.
- If the player offers Eddie a purple sea urchin or the bone, he will refuse them. For the latter, he will also accuse Freddi and Luther for thinking he is a dogfish.
